Our Year 6 students are pretty impressive when it comes to coding and our year 2s are just learning about what coding is and with Hour of Code approaching it is time for us to put our coding hats on again and look at the ways that coding can help with our learning.
In year 2 we are looking at how we use code to make an object move. It is great for our directional and positional language and we are able to complete learning tasks on the computer, with BeeBot Robots or just with our friends on the tiled floor.
The Year 5 and 6 classes are looking at using Blockly Code which is used in Scratch. It is a bit more difficult and we are using a lot more variables in our code as well as writing loops and different scrips for different backgrounds. Scratch is a great coding language to learn as it will help us in the future when we learn text based codes like Java or Python and the
best part is that once we have finished our code in Scratch we have created something like a game that we can play and share with our friends.
